LBSL’s full name is a lot to say, so we hosted a contest in 2017 to rename the disease. The winner? The Awesome Disease — because the people who are affected are awesome. That’s why we are Team Awesome. Come be the part of the team! 

What is Team Awesome?

In official terms, we call it peer-to-peer fundraising. It’s a powerful way to bring our mission to life through people, connection and shared purpose. When you invite others to give through your Team Awesome page, you raise funds and you raise awareness, build community, and open doors to conversations that change lives. You inspire others to take action!

When you join Team Awesome and fundraise for Cure LBSL, you do something we cannot do alone: You shine a spotlight on LBSL to your community. And you never know who in your life has been waiting for a life-changing cause to support! The person who hears about LBSL through you might give $25 — or they might help advance our research ways we can’t imagine.

Why Team Awesome Matters

Our LBSL community is at a critical stage in our gene therapy effort, and every teammate matters because every dollar counts. Besides supporting research, fundraising also fuels critical programs that support patients and families at every stage of their journey, like our biennial LBSL Patient and Family Conference. From advocacy to advancing research to providing access to trusted resources, everything raised supports our mission.
